Sniff out Skunk cabbage

Skunk cabbage, Symplocarpus foetidus, is a perennial wildflower. It can be found in wet areas of forests and sprouts very early in the spring, creating heat to melt the snow around it.

While its distinctive smell may repel humans and other mammals, it does well attracting bees, butterflies, and other insect pollinators.

Find creepy creepers

Help Budburst find these invasive plants so they can be better controlled!

These ground cover plants spread aggressively, smothering other plants growing nearby. This affects the local ecology of an area, changing its plant diversity.

Common periwinkle, Vinca minor, has light blue flowers and opposite, evergreen leaves.

Winter creeper, Euonymus fortunei, also has opposite evergreen leaves, but with toothed margins.
