Skunk cabbage, Symplocarpus foetidus, is a perennial wildflower. It can be found in wet areas of forests and sprouts very early in the spring, creating heat to melt the snow around it.
While its distinctive smell may repel humans and other mammals, it does well attracting bees, butterflies, and other insect pollinators.
